Alliance Française de Washington, DC welcomes award-winning writer Steve Hoffman for an evening devoted to his acclaimed memoir A Season for That: Lost and Found in the Other Southern France. The event is part of the Alliance Française's Americans in France series and will be presented in English.

Part travel memoir, part culinary adventure, and part love letter to rural France, the book follows Hoffman and his family as they leave Minnesota for the small village of Autignac in southern France. Their attempt to immerse themselves in French life soon becomes a deeper exploration of language, family, food, wine, community, and belonging.

Through experiences with local neighbors, winemaking, and regional cooking, Hoffman gradually moves beyond an idealized image of France and discovers a culture closely connected to its landscape, traditions, and everyday rituals.

Following the conversation, guests will have an opportunity to participate in a Q&A with the author. Copies of A Season for That will also be available for purchase onsite. This event is for adults ages 21 and over.
