Machaerus (Mukawir)
Madaba, Jordan

Tickets: From $21 USD (charged in JOD)

Friends of Jordan Festivals presents a special open-air performance of Handel's Messiah at the historic site of Machaerus (Mukawir), overlooking the dramatic landscape of Jordan's Madaba region.

The concert brings together world-class musicians from the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra and Choir, joined by European soloists and Jordanian musicians. Presented in a sunset setting, the performance combines one of the most celebrated works in the classical repertoire with a site closely associated with the history of St. John the Baptist.

The evening marks the beginning of a long-term cultural and spiritual initiative leading toward the global commemorations of St. John the Baptist in 2030. The project celebrates Jordan's Christian heritage while highlighting the country's historic sites through international music and cultural programming.

With its combination of sacred music, archaeological heritage, and an extraordinary outdoor setting, the performance offers audiences a unique way to experience Handel's masterpiece.
