Legendary Brazilian guitarist, composer, and vocalist Toninho Horta brings his project Standards & Stories to Joe's Pub at The Public Theater. The performance highlights music from his album that explores classic American standards interpreted through Horta's distinctive Brazilian jazz style.
Known as a central figure in Brazil's influential Clube da Esquina movement, Horta blends jazz harmony, MPB traditions, and his signature nylon-string guitar tone. In this program, he revisits songs from the Great American Songbook, presenting them with lush arrangements and a warm Brazilian sensibility.
The evening features a full ensemble including guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, percussion, and vocalists, creating an intimate yet richly textured concert experience. The project marks a special moment in Horta's career, as the album features him singing entirely in English for the first time while honoring the musical traditions that shaped his international career.
The performance runs approximately 75 minutes. Joe's Pub requires a minimum purchase of two drinks or one food item per guest during the show.
