X,Y&Z: The Real Story of How Enigma Was Broken

Drawing on recently declassified archives, Dermot Turing, the nephew of Alan Turing, tells in full the real story of how Enigma was broken and celebrates the early work of the Polish codebreakers which lead to the joint efforts of the French, British and Polish secret services (X,Y and Z) during WWII.

Dermot Turing is the author of Prof, the acclaimed biography of Alan Turing. He spent his career in the legal profession after graduating from Cambridge and Oxford, and is a trustee of Bletchley Park. He has extensive knowledge of World War II code-breaking and is a regular presenter at major cryptology events, most recently presenting at the US National Security Agency’s Center for Cryptologic History.

It will be possible to purchase the book during the event.

Book presentation will be accompanied by an exhibit Enigma – Decipher Victory about Polish mathematicians whose work was foundational for the breaking of the Enigma code.
