Diversity and Identity opens at Embassy of Canada Art Gallery,
July 31 to October 26, 2018

The Embassy of Canada is pleased to announce the opening of Diversity and Identity, a collection of visual art pieces by contemporary Québec artist Renée duRocher. The exhibition features pieces inspired by a recent visit to northern Vietnam and the literary work of Vietnamese-born Canadian author Kim Thùy.

DuRocher’s artistic approach is characterized by broad strokes of rich and contrasting colours. In Diversity and Identity, vibrant colours frame key subjects such as Vietnamese rice fields, lush tamarinds, and characters dressed in traditional costumes. Combined with literary snapshots selected by novelist Kim Thùy, the pictorial works are all the more evocative and provide an in-depth look into the Vietnamese community.

Diversity and Identity opens July 31, 2018, through October 26, 2018, and is sponsored by Bombardier Inc. The Embassy’s art gallery is located next to the Newseum at 501 Pennsylvania Avenue NW and is open to the public Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, free of charge.
