On August 19, 2018 the young Austrian organist Stefan Donner will perform at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception as part of the Summer Organ Recital Series.

The program will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Louis Vierne, Josef Friedrich Doppelbauer and Franz Schmidt. Stefan studied organ at the University of Music in Vienna, the Amsterdam Conservatory and concluded his training at the Eastman School of Music (USA) as a Fulbright scholar. He recieved various awards and has performed all over Europe, in Israel, in the US and Australia.

ABOUT STEFAN DONNER

Stefan Donner, born in 1987, began his training at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where he studied organ with Peter Planyavsky and Martin Haselböck and piano with Antoinette Van Zabner. He earned degrees in organ and piano and a MA degree in organ performance from the Conservatory of Amsterdam in the studio of Jacques van Oortmerssen. In addition to his studies, Stefan attended organ master classes with James David Christie, Alexander Fiseisky, Hans Davidsson and Olivier Latry. Stefan won various awards including the first prize Daniel Herz Organ Competition (Italy), first prize Franz Schmidt Organ Competition (Austria) and third prize in the prestigious Dublin International Organ Competition (Ireland). He received a Fulbright grant to study organ and harpsichord at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, with Edoardo Bellotti. As a concert organist Stefan has performed all over Europe, in Israel and in the US. Stefan is currently working as an organist at St. Leopold’s and St. Peter’s in Vienna.
