The Blue Angel

"The Blue Angel" @ The National Portrait Gallery

Join the German Embassy and the National Portrait Gallery on Thursday, Nov. 30 for a reception and screening of Marlene Dietrich's most famous film

The movie is one of the first “talkie” movies that brought Dietrich international fame. Dietrich plays Lola Lola, a seductress whose irresistible draw proves the undoing of the moralistic high school teacher Professor Rath (Emil Jannings).

The film and reception are presented in conjunction with the National Portrait Gallery’s ongoing exhibition “Marlene Dietrich: Dressed for the Image”, on view in the second floor galleries through April 15, 2018.

Organized in cooperation with Deutsche Kinemathek – Marlene Dietrich Collection Berlin, the exhibit is the first in the United States to examine the life and influence of Marlene Dietrich.
