Visual Arts: Vintage Jewish Fashion Photography

This photo exhibit of Jewish fashion in the 20th century, represents only a fraction of the museum’s vast collection of more than 400,000 black and white images depicting Jewish history, heritage, and communal life. Depicting traditional costumes and other ensembles from Jewish communities throughout Israel, Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Showcased are European Jewish school and sports uniforms, festive dress, Israeli labor clothing and a famous Israeli fashion brand.

From the collection of Beit Hatfutsot, The Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv, and the Bernard H. and Miriam Oster Visual Documentation Center.

Concert: Tzofim Friendship Caravan

The Tzofim Friendship Caravan is a group of ten energetic teenagers who are leaders in their Scout chapters in Israel. Together, the Caravan travels across North America, using song, dance, and personal stories to share friendship and love for Israel.

Film: Reel Israel DC presents Harmonia

Nominated for four Israeli Academy Awards and a selection of the 2017 Washington Jewish Film Festival, Harmonia is a modern adaptation of the mythological triangle between the childless Abraham and Sarah and young Hagar, set in the Jerusalem Philharmonic. Harmonia uncovers the metaphoric emotional roots of the ancient conflict between the two peoples living in Jerusalem, now seeking harmony through a dramatic encounter between Western and Eastern music.
