Five years after the 875th anniversary of Tiefenort, emigration history from the Grand Duchy Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach area has been written and published for the first time in the English language by the author, Astrid Adler.

“Our Ancestors Were German“ explains the reasons for ancestors' emigration during the 19th century in the Grand Duchy area. Learn about the hardships that people had to master at that time, their emigration processing and journey, the immigrants’ new life, and much more.

“Goodbye Forever – Life Beyond Germany” traces sixty years of emigration history for the village of Tiefenort as a good example of similar emigration patterns that can be found everywhere in Germany.
