High-speed rail projects are under development across the United States, promising to tie cities closer together, and Japanese technology is in the forefront of these exciting projects!

Join the JICC and JR Central to hear from Masahiro Nakayama, who will discuss the promise of new "MagLev" magnetic levitation trains and more!

JR Central operates the famous Tokaido Shinkansen and has been at the heart of railway developments in Japan. Now, the company is working closely with groups in America to increase Japan-US technological cooperation and bring high-speed trains to the Northeast corridor and Texas.

Mr. Nakayama, the GM of JR Central's DC office, will explore the history of Japan's high-speed rail system, discuss the Shinkansen's unparalleled safety record, and give an update on US efforts to create faster rail links, like the proposed SCMaglev system that would take passengers from DC to New York in an hour!

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Masahiro "Mark" Nakayama was appointed General Manager of Washington DC Office of Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) in July 2015 after three years of active leadership at International Department of JR Central in Tokyo from 2012 through 2015. In Washington, Mr. Nakayama oversees high-speed rail projects and initiatives in North America, which JR Central has been pursuing as a technological provider of the Japanese Shinkansen system for Texas’s Dallas-Houston route and the SCMaglev systems for Washington DC-Baltimore-New York segment of the Northeast Corridor.
