AFI European Union Film Showcase 2016 | December 1 – 18, 2016 The American Film Institute European Union Film Showcase will be held at the American Film Institute Silver Theater and Cultural Center and is one of the Washington, DC area’s most eagerly anticipated cultural events. Now in its 29th year, the EU Showcase features a first-class selection of 47 films from EU member states, including international film festival award winners, European box-office hits and debut works by promising new talents, plus nine U.S. premieres and 14 countries’ official Oscar® submissions for Best Foreign Language Film. Actress turned-director Maria Schrader tells Zweig’s story of exile and despair in five discrete vignettes ranging from the Brazilian countryside to Buenos Aires to New York City. Concert | Vienna Boys Choir: Christmas in Vienna December 18, 2016 | 4:00 pm The Center for the Arts is the spotlight of performing arts on the Fairfax campus of George Mason University and brings the world famous Austrian Vienna Boys’ Choir in the Washington, DC area. The Vienna Boys Choir are performing since 1498 continually for the Sunday Mass in Vienna’s Imperial Chapel.
