Sapin II: What France's New Anti-Corruption Law Will Mean For Business on Either Side of the Atlantic
|
Over the past six years, French companies have paid over $1.6 billion to the United States Treasury to resolve anti-corruption enforcement actions, and over the past nine years, two executives of French companies have pleaded guilty to anti-bribery-related violations in the United Sates.
Meanwhile, anti-corruption enforcement in France has lagged, leading the OECD and others to pressure France to improve anti-corruption regime. France's new anti-corruption law -- Sapin II -- is likely to be adopted by year-end and aims, among other things, to respond to criticism of the country's anti-corruption regime. Join us and FACC member Miller & Chevalier for a conversation about what led France to introduce the 'Sapin II' law, what the new law will require, how the law will fit into a legal landscape currently dominated by US and UK anti-corruption laws, and the practical implications of the new law for companies and businesspeople working on either side of the Atlantic.
The event will be followed by a networking reception at Miller & Chevalier's new offices.
