French Cinémathèque series at the Avalon Theater

The monthly French Cinémathèque series at the Avalon Theatre, in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, presents the screening of the 2016 film Down By Love (Eperdument) by Pierre Godeau.

Based on true events that occurred in a detention center in Versailles in 2011, Down by Love depicts an impossible love story between Jean, a prison governor (Guillaume Gallienne, member of the Comédie-Française) and Anna, an inmate (Adèle Exarchopoulos, Blue is the Warmest Color).

She has been incarcerated awaiting trial for four years; although he is married, and father to a young girl, he puts both his family and his career at stake, when he enters into an illicit and impassioned affair with the young woman.

In French with English subtitles
