Bistro Bohem will screen the film Holiday with Angel (Dovolená s andělem) on June 21, 2016, at 7:00 pm as part of the ongoing film and beer series.

In this Czech comedy, exemplary workers from around the country are rewarded with vouchers for a vacation at a lakeside hotel to relax, enjoy the sun, swim, and be entertained. While there, a grumbling old man, Gustav Angel (Jaroslav Marvan), finds himself rooming with a cello player he thought to avoid. His other roommate is  Mr. Marek - who fixes things in the hotel and even initiates the building of a new place for children with the help of the rest of the group on "vacation." Meanwhile, a married couple that recently separated get stuck in the same hotel and placed in the same room. They eventually find out that their "bosses" wanted them to try to reconcile their differences. Can their marriage be saved?

Holiday with Angel | Dovolená s andělem
Directed by: Bořivoj Zeman, 1952, 76 min., Czech with English subtitles

Additional information: The film is indicative of the times, a comedy interspersed with socialist propaganda - such as women joining the labor force to alleviate the problem of man power. Additionally, the people are all working together - the collective life.
