The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. proudly presents a digital exhibition exploring the diversity of Korea's UNESCO-recognized World Heritage sites through a combination of 3D video, vivid images, and audio.
In 1972, the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization met in Paris and adopted the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. This act created the World Heritage List, which today includes 1,007 properties from 161 countries. The Republic of Korea is host to 11 such properties, which span the diversity of Korea’s rich cultural and geographical heritage: Seokguram Grotto and Bulguksa Temple, Haeinsa Temple Janggyeong Panjeon, Jongmyo Shrine, Changdeokgung Palace Complex, Hwaseong Fortress, Gyeongju Historic Areas, the Gochang, Hwasun and Ganghwa Dolmen Sites, Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes, Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty, Historic Villages of Korea: Hahoe and Yangdong, and Namhansanseong.
