RESIDENCE OF THE ICELANDIC AMBASSADOR-2443 KALORAMA ROAD, NW- LAUFEY SIGUR?ARDÓTTIR, VIOLIN- BETH LEVIN, PIANO- Saturday, May 21, 2016, 7:30pm- Laufey Sigurðardóttir was born and raised in Reykjavik Iceland. Later she received a state grant from the Italian government to study in Rome. Laufey has appeared as a recitalist and chamber musician in all of the Scandinavian countries, The Netherlands, Spain and Russia and premiered a number of pieces written especially for her. Laufey is a permanent member of the Icelandic Symphony Orcestra and teaches violin at the Reykjavik Conservatory as well as being an artistic director of a Mozart festival in Reykjavik and an annual music festival held in the north of Iceland. Since 1990, he is a member of the solo ensamble of the SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana, where he has performed a long line of important bass roles: Zahari, Lindorf, Coppelius, Dappertuto, Miracle, don Alfonso, Ferrando, Escamillo, Martin Krpan, St. Bris, Ramfis... He also took part in guest appearances in Australia, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Italy, Canada, Kosovo, Peru, Uruguay, and elsewhere. Program: Operatic Arias, Lieder and Slovenian Folksongs. Ivan Danko (Oboe), Róbert Lakatos (Viola) and Ladislav Fanzowitz (Klavier) have been friends for many years. The ensemble’s first CD (Kauder, Klughardt, Kahn) was released in 2010.
