During a politically volatile time like Korea's 15th century Joseon Dynasty, a master of the ancient art of face reading can be a valuable asset. The skills of Nae-gyeong (Song Kang-ho) are unmatched, and he lives a quiet, comfortable life. But when a lucrative job offer from a powerful woman proves too tempting, Nae-gyeong is soon embroiled in a murder plot only he can solve. His prowess attracts the attention of King Munjong, who himself is under threat from potential traitors. Nae-gyeong must decide whether to remain loyal to his king or fall in line with the power-hungry Grand Prince Suyang (Lee Jung-jae), who is determined to take the throne by any means necessary.

Director Han Jae-rim's The Face Reader was a hit in Korea in 2013, and enjoyed an unusually wide U.S. debut. It's famous lead actor went on to win multiple best actor awards, in addition to awards for its supporting actors. In Korean with English subtitles. 139 minutes.
