Rooted in Brazil but based in Washington, DC, Origem presents an exciting, expressive musical fusion that combines traditional styles such as Maracatú, Partido Alto, Samba and Baião with jazz harmony, funk grooves and improvisation.

Led by Lucini brothers Alejandro, Leonardo and Bruno (drums, bass and percussion), the sextet is rounded out by Campbell Charshee (piano, keyboards), Dawn Elliot (vocals), and IDB staff Ben Roseth (IFD/ICS, alto saxophone).
