Join us at the KCC for the opening of Blossoming Washington Pear V, a group exhibition of diverse art styles that explores the personal resilience and life journeys of 15 Korean women in the Washington, D.C. area.

Working across a variety of artistic media including sculpture, visual art, ceramics, metalworking, and fluorescent lighting installation, the artists of Blossoming Washington Pear strive to express the moral fiber that defines the experiences of many women: balancing family, self, and profession, adapting to life across borders, and flourishing in the face of adversity. This exhibition also strives to characterize the unique Korean American experience through reflections of Korean heritage that are as diverse as the artists themselves. More than 50 works are presented.

Like the hearty pear blossom itself, these artists have demonstrated a remarkable resiliency and graceful beauty in their cross-cultural, international lives. The result is fertile ground for artistic expression.

Several of the featured artists will offer guided tours of the exhibition during the opening reception, plus an introductory talk by the curator, on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m. Admission to the opening reception is free but an RSVP is required (below). This exhibition will remain on view (no RSVP required) through May 25, 2015 (Mon - Fri, 9:00 am to noon and 1:30 - 5:30 pm).
