ANIMEZING 2011

THE GREAT YOKAI WAR

Come trick-or-treat at the JICC for our October Spooktacular finale with this creepy adventure! Costumes are encouraged and Japanese sweets will be on hand, so get your Halloween off to a hauntingly good start with The Great Yokai War!

A young boy becomes an unlikely hero when he is chosen to lead Japan's ancient Yokai spirits in an apocalyptic battle against evil monsters. By acclaimed director Takashi Miike, this action-packed fantasy is sure to be freaky fun for the whole family!

As a series of bizarre supernatural incidents plague the Japanese countryside and scores of children vanish into thin air, young Tadashi is named the "Kirin Rider" at a rural shrine festival. Sent into the hills to claim his sword from the Great Goblin, he discovers that the mountain is alive with a variety of yokai -- the famously ghoulish spirits of Japanese folklore -- that only he can see.

When they realize that he is the Kirin Rider, the yokai enlist him in their doomsday battle against a powerful dark lord determined to destroy mankind. Tadashi pledges to save his freaky new friends and put an end to the evil apocalyptic plot once and for all!
