Japan Information and Culture Center, Embassy of Japan and Japan-America Society of Washington DC present:

KAMISHIBAI STORY TIME

School's out for summer and the fun has just begun at the JICC! We've teamed up with our friends at the Japan-America Society of Washington DC to bring you our Kamishibai Story Time series. Kamishibai is a traditional Japanese form of storytelling using large, illustrated picture boards to bring the tales to life.

Come celebrate Tanabata, Japan's famous Star Festival, by hearing the legend of Hikoboshi the herder and Orihime, the weaving princess. Afterwards children will have a chance to create colorful paper ornaments and their own tanzaku, thin paper strips for writing wishes, to decorate bamboo branches.

We hope to see you there! And don't forget to mark your calendars for the next Kamishibai Story Times!
