Summary: In this 1999 remake of the original "Hyppolit, the butler" from 1931, Mr. Schneider strikes it rich by making gold with his cesspool vacuum truck , becoming a nouveau riche bourgeois in the years right after the transition in Hungary. In spite of all the wealth acquired, Mr. Schneider remains a simple petit bourgeois, but money and wife demands otherwise: they need to acquire social rank and image! So Mrs. Schneider makes the decision: they need to have a butler! Thus enters Hippolyt, who has served in diplomatic circles, has a special training for etiquette and elegance, which he is now about to enforce on the Schneiders...
